If you mean is the E46 M3 engine the same as the E39 M5 engine, you are incorrect again as they're completely different - the M3 being a straight six and the M5 being a V8 for starters. I have seen that the factory engine leaves plenty of turbo space, and am definitely thinking of turbocharging it eventually in the future.
