This is true for all older ecu's that have electrolytic caps. ie shorter life. mk3supra. Caps mainly fail due to heat as mentioned above they dry out or leak, if the voltage applied to the cap is close to its rating they tend to run hotter. Check out the corrosion on the tracks caused by the leaks! Had to do a few repairs to the tracks. .
